We Need Your Help!

Cedar Valley Readers is looking for volunteers that would like to help with vision screenings for Waterloo elementary kids.

As part of the Vision to Learn program, we are looking for volunteers that would be able to attend a training on September 21st from 9:00AM to noon at Highland Elementary to learn how to conduct an initial vision screening. We would then like to have volunteers choose at least two shifts to conduct screenings for kids during their PE classes the week of September 25th. Shifts will be scheduled in the mornings and in the afternoons.

We will be screening all kids K-5 at the following schools: Lincoln, Lowell, Irving, Highland and Cunningham Elementary Schools in Waterloo. All kids that do not pass this initial screening will receive a free eye exam from the Vision to Learn mobile clinic when it visits their schools in early October, and two pairs of free glasses will be provided in November!

If you have any questions about volunteering for this program, please reach out to Lekeisha Veasley, coordinator for Cedar Valley Readers, at LVeasley@opertionthreshold.org.
